As much as I terribly miss being a professional Domina full-time, I must say that things are really getting out of control. I was fortunate to be there at the beginning of the current fetish movement - when Skin Two was brand new and not available at Tower Records - when it felt really, really special to finally find a group of like-minded people who enjoyed their alternative sexual preferences. As opposed to now when it's all about what you're wearing (and I know sooooo many people - especially Dominas - who once they're done posing or playing in public then peel off the latex, unhook the boots, untie the leather and would never think of then actually having sex while all trussed up).
I remember the first time I spanked someone in public - the thrill at being watched, the excitement of doing something "forbidden" and the gratification at the acceptance and approval of the crowd. Nowadays that's old hat, and if you're not sticking meat hooks through someone it's not really a "show" and people stand around looking bored.
Ho hum. You know, I purrsonally don't see it changing or being able to "go back" to the way it was. It's so very difficult to go back into hiding when we've been brought kicking and screaming into the light, and as the vast majority of folks who play do not play with or as professionals, I would think that the ease of finding equipment, clothing and partners would be seen as a benefit, actually.
